Assembling a Sleep Number Bed takes about an hour.
Unlike conventional innerspring mattresses, Sleep Number Beds feature advanced technology with special air chambers that can be individually altered to match a person's sleeping position and increase comfort level. This customizable system's foundation and mattress may sound complicated to assemble, but the manufacturer says setting up a Sleep Number Bed only takes an hour. You may wish to use the frame of your old bed or purchase additional support legs.
Instructions
Assembling the Sleep Number Bed Foundation
1. Check the contents of the foundation boxes to see if all the parts are included. Clear a large enough space on the floor to assemble the foundation, or assemble it directly onto a bed frame.
2. Connect the side rails by pushing the components marked A side rail and B side rail together. The joints fit tightly, so push firmly. Once slotted together, insert the slide pins, T end up, and push firmly.
3. Install the foundation legs, if you have bought them, by inserting them into the leg holes located on the underside of the side rails.
4. Insert the support beams with the tabs up and the textured side facing outward. Push firmly until the top is flush to ensure the joints are connected properly. If you have an expanded queen bed, attach a corner bracket over each end before connecting to the side rails.
5. Gently slide the deck panels into place until they are flush on all sides. Add the coverlet one corner at a time and ensure you position the seam at the head of bed. The expanded queen coverlet will fit over the corner brackets.
Assembling the Sleep Number Bed Mattress
6. Check the contents of the mattress boxes to see if all the parts are included. Gently open the foam comfort pad(s) and place them to one side as they require at least 20 minutes' exposure to air to expand.
7. Place the mattress cover on the foundation or existing bed platform. Unzip the cover and place it to one side.
8. Insert the corner locks into place and ensure you position them under the border wrap. Install the foam border walls by placing the longer ones along the entire length of the bed from head to toe.
9. Fix the shorter foam border walls into place by positioning them across the mattress. Make sure all the foam border walls are connected securely and squarely, and are covered by the border wrap.
10. Install the air chambers by positioning the hose connectors so they face the head of the bed and lay on the bottom when inflated. Connect the firmness control system by placing it on the floor at the head of the bed and plugging it into a power supply. The hose marked L must pass through the hole on the left side of the mattress cover and connect to the left air chamber. Push the hose connections together until they click. Repeat this process for the right side.
11. Inflate the air chamber(s) by using the remote control. For dual chamber beds, ensure you inflate both sides by pressing L or R on the remote. Insert foam between the chambers and fit the border wrap over the foam border walls and air chambers.
12. Place the foam comfort pad patterned side up on the air chambers and cover it with the border wrap. Ensure the border wrap covers the entire foam comfort pad and zip up the mattress cover to complete the Sleep Number Bed assembly process.
Tips Warnings
Ensure you place the Sleep Number Bed near a wall socket so that the system can easily be connected to a power supply.
