Levolor has become a household name in the world of window fashions and window coverings.
The Levolor Company, established in 1914, is a widely recognized name in the world of window coverings and window fashions. Levolor wood blinds remain one of the company's best-selling blinds, both as an in-store and a special order product. Depending on the window, and the look the consumer wants to achieve, Levolor wood blinds may be mounted inside the window frame or outside on the frame or wall.
Instructions
Inside Mount
1. Measure the inside depth of the window frame to ensure enough space exists to attach the blind as an inside mount. The blind will need at least 1 3/4 inches of space and a maximum of 3 1/2 inches of mounting space. In order to flush-mount the blind, the full 3 1/2 inches of space is needed. If you hang the blind with only 1 3/4 inches of frame, part of the blind will hang out from the window.
2. Hold one of the blind brackets securely against the window frame, where it will hang once attached. Mark through the holes in the blind bracket on the window frame with the pencil. Duplicate this step on the opposite side of the window.
3. Measure the width between the side mounting brackets, to find the location to attach the center support hardware. Mark the exact location with the pencil. Hold the center support bracket against the top of the windowsill and use the pencil to mark on the sill through the screw holes. Use one center support bracket for blinds over 60 inches wide and two center support brackets for blinds wider than 95 inches. Attaching the center support bracket helps protect the blind from bowing in the middle.
4. Align a level with the screw hole marks on both sides of the window and with the center bracket marks. This step ensures the blind will hang properly when positioned within the brackets. If the marks do not appear level, place the brackets back against the sill and re-align the holes.
5. Predrill the holes for the screws using a cordless drill. Predrilling the screw holes will safeguard against cracking the window trim and ensures that the screws will secure easily to the sill.
6. Attach the screws and blind brackets to the wall using a cordless screwdriver.
7. Attach the valance clips to the blind's head rail.
8. Place the head rail of the Levolor wood blind into the brackets. Close the bracket cover or snap it into place, depending on the Levolor blind chosen and the brackets contained in the hardware kit.
9. Attach the valance cover to the valance clips on the head rail.
Outside Mount
10. Place the blind up to the outside frame of the window in its planned location. Draw a line on each side of the frame using the blind's head rail as a guide.
11. Place one of the brackets against the indicator line and use the pencil to mark through each of the holes in the bracket, marking where to drill the screws holes. Complete the step on the other side of the frame.
12. Measure the distance between the lines on each side of the frame and mark a line indicating the middle. Place the center support bracket up to the line, centering the back of the bracket on the line. Use the pencil to mark through the holes where the screws will attach to the wall.
13. Hold the level up to the window to match up all of the screw holes to ensure that the blind will be completely level on the frame when installed.
14. Predrill the screw holes with the cordless drill to keep the trim on the frame from cracking.
15. Attach the Levolor blind brackets and the center support bracket to the frame using the cordless screwdriver to insert the screws.
16. Place the head rail of the blind into the brackets and close the bracket door or attach the sliding bracket cover.
17.Attach the valance clips to the head rail of the Levolor blind. Connect the valance returns to the valance using the L-clips or plastic connectors included with the blind hardware kit.
18. Fasten the valance to the clips attached to the head rail.
