Remove The Ignition Switch On A 1995 Dodge Intrepid

The ignition switch is located behind the key lock cylinder on your car's steering column. If your 1995 Dodge Intrepid is not starting or stalls frequently, you may have a bad ignition switch. Watch the instrument warning lights on your dash when you start your car. If the lights do not stay on or they go dead as soon as the car stalls, the ignition switch could be to blame. You can buy a new ignition switch at an auto parts store or a Dodge dealership.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal with a wrench. Isolate the cable away from the battery to prevent accidental contact.

2. Remove the screw attaching the tilt lever to the steering column with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the tilt lever from the steering column.

3. Remove the screws from the lower steering column cover to release the upper and lower steering column cover with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the covers and set them aside.

4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the multi-function switch and pull the switch from the column. Disconnect the electrical connection from the back of the ignition switch by pulling the connector straight out.

5. Remove the mounting screws from the ignition switch with a Phillips screwdriver and lift the ignition switch out of the car.
