Frolov Breathing Technique

Frolov derived some of his ideas by observing how whales breathe.

The Frolov Breathing Technique is a method of breathing developed by Vladimir Frolov, a Russian researcher who studied how different animals used oxygen. In order to perform the breathing technique, you need to use a specialized device called a Frolov Breathing Device. The device works by using water in a cup to add resistance to your normal breathing patterns. This resistance helps you lengthen your breath cycles, which Frolov theorized would cause the overall oxygen level in your body to decrease, which will cause your body's cells to make their own oxygen. This will lead to a proper oxygen level in the body, and cut down on oxygen based free radicals that can harm you.

Instructions

1. Pour water into the measuring glass. The amount of water that you put in the device will range between 10 and 20 milliliters, depending on your age. A chart that comes with the device will tell you exactly how much to use. Most adults will use about 20 ml.

2. Pour the water into the largest container, called the outer container. Then snap the circular lid on top of the inner container, and place the inner container into the outer container and snap it closed.

3. Insert one end of the tube into the top of the lid, and place the mouthpiece over the other end of the tube.

4. Place yourself in a comfortable position where you can breathe freely. This can be sitting at a table, reclining in a chair or lying on the couch.

5. Hold the device upright and place your mouth over the mouthpiece. Close your lips so no air can get in or out around the mouthpiece.

6. Breathe in quickly through the mouthpiece. The process of breathing in should take about two to three seconds.

7. Breathe out slowly through the mouthpiece. Breathing out should take between seven or eight seconds, so that the entire process takes about 10 seconds. Continue to breathe in and out for about five to 10 minutes.

8. Increase the amount of water in the device, the amount of time for each respiratory cycle and the amount of time you do the exercise, as you progress. After two months you should have an additional 5 to 10 ml of water in the device and be using it for 25 to 30 minutes. The length of the average respiratory cycle should gradually increase on its own, without you having to force it.
