Make A 10fold Vanilla Infusion

Ten-fold vanilla infusion is extremely flavorful and aromatic due to the amount of vanilla beans put into it.

A sensual aphrodisiac, vanilla is an aroma used for relaxation. Originating from Central America and Mexico, these fragrant brown beans are picked from flowers growing on a tall, climbing vine and are used for aromas and for flavors included in many recipes. Typical vanilla infusion is single-fold, meaning that is is single strength, whereas 10-fold vanilla infusion is 10 times stronger and made with 10 times the amount of vanilla.

Instructions

1. Lay the 30 or more vanilla beans on a table or flat surface and separate them from each other. Double the recipe if you want to use two cups of vodka and have more vanilla infusion.

2. Cut each bean in half using the scissors or knife. Stop about an inch from the end of the bean so that the two halves still stay connected.

3. Pour the vodka or bourbon into the glass jar. A clear jar is best so that you can see the infusion change color over time. It will turn from clear to brown.

4. Place the beans into the jar individually, pushing them down so that they are covered entirely in the vodka or bourbon. Close the jar tightly and either leave it on a counter or place it on a shelf.

5. Let the infusion develop over a number of weeks. The longer you wait, the stronger it will be. Wait at least four weeks for the vanilla infusion to develop.

6. Remove the beans from the jar using tongs after a month or two when the infusion has developed as you desired.

7. Pour the dark brown liquid vanilla infusion into a single jar or bottle, or into smaller containers using a funnel. Your 10-fold vanilla infusion is now ready for use or for presents.

8. Dry the beans and keep them. They can be reused over and over again.
