Make An Orgone Blanket

In the 1930's psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich coined the term "orgone energy" to describe a universal life source. It was believed that orgone energy could be cultivated to do a variety of things from causing rain to curing ailments. Many devices were designed to harness orgone energy, including the orgone blanket that in theory would accumulate "life energy." This energy radiates throughout the body to increase relaxation and to improve health issues, such as pain, immune deficiencies and stress. Increased interest in natural healing has renewed societal interest in orgone energy.

Instructions

1. Place a sheet of plain white cotton fabric on a table cut to the desired size of your personal orgone blanket. Smooth the material with your hand to remove wrinkles and creases. Place a layer of steel wool on| top of the cotton fabric.

2. Make sure the layer of steel wool is thick enough so that you cannot see the cotton fabric beneath the steel wool. Place a layer of sheep's wool or cotton batting on top of the steel wool. Layer the sheep's wool or the cotton batting over the steel wool until you cannot see the steel wool beneath.

3. Alternate layers of sheep's wool and steel wool until the blanket is the desired thickness. Cover the last layer of sheep's wool with the dark green acrylic felt. Hand stitch along the edges of the blanket.
