Use An Ace Bandage On A Quad

The quad part of the leg is the thigh area, and it makes up the major four muscles in this area. It must work properly and painlessly in order for us to execute our daily lives; walking, running, exercising, etc. Depending on the type of injury, you can help rehabilitate your quads with a tightly wrapped Ace bandage, or you may need to actually visit the hospital and receive crutches. If you have a minor injury, wrapping an Ace bandage around the quad will do the trick. It will help keep wound bandages in place, reduce swelling of an injured area, or to improve circulation to a certain area.

Instructions

1. Figure out what size Ace bandage you need. If you need one to wrap over the majority of your quad, from a little above the knee to the upper thigh, you will need to make sure to by the large Ace bandages. If you just need a certain section, purchase the smaller ones.

2. Pinpoint the area that is most sore or tender on your quad. Once you have found this area, you know where to wrap the bandage. If needed, place a hot or cold pack underneath. The Ace bandage will help anchor it to your body.

3. Hold the rolled end of the Ace bandage in one hand, and the loose end in the other. Place the loose end of the Ace bandage around the pinpointed area. With the other hand, slowly wrap the Ace bandage around your thigh, looping around the back of it to meet the point where you started.

4. Proceed to wrap the Ace bandage in this manner, until there are a couple of layers of the bandage and it feels tight and secure. Try not to overlap the bandage, but keep wrapping the pinpointed area from one side to the other. Trim the end if needed, if there is too much bandage. You do not want several layers, as this will be uncomfortable and bulky on the injury.

5. Hold the end of the Ace bandage that you just wrapped around. Use the metal clips that come with the Ace bandage to secure it into place. Do this by taking the first clip, and anchoring it into the end of the Ace bandage, than securing it to the bandage part around your knee. Use two to anchor it down, on either side of the bandage's end.

6. Change the bandage as necessary. Do not shower with it.
