Parents of troubled adolescents need places where they can send their children to learn respect for authority figures. The boot camps may have the resources the families need to help their teenagers turn their behaviors around.
Defined
Military are facilities for troubled teens who have already come into contact with law enforcement or juvenile probation. The teen may be ordered to attend a boot camp by a judge.
Purpose
The purpose of the military is to work with the adolescent and help him follow rules and learn to obey authority. They are not "military," but they are generally run by former military members.
State Funded
These programs are free for teens who have been ordered to attend by a judge. Parents need to approach state-funded camps with caution because of overcrowding; they may also accept violent residents.
Private
Private military boot camps are much more well-known to the public. These camps are generally owned and operated by former soldiers, but they are not affiliated with the military. Monthly fees can start at $2,000 per month.
Overseas
Military boot camps overseas can be less expensive, but they don't have to follow U.S.rules. Parents may be sending their children to programs which are unlicensed or not regulated.
