Clean Hardwood Floors With Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide can remove pet urine from hardwood floors.

Hydrogen peroxide, or H202, is a slightly blue viscous liquid composed of hydrogen and oxygen. It can be used as a mild antiseptic, bleaching agent, oxidizing agent and chemical reagent. Hydrogen peroxide is used to clean pet urine and vomit from hardwood floors. Hydrogen peroxide helps remove stains and smells from animal byproducts but should be diluted because it can bleach or discolor hardwood.

Instructions

1. Place a paper towel over the area to be cleaned. Step on it to remove any remaining moisture.

2. In a spray bottle, combine 1 part hydrogen peroxide with 3 parts warm water. Shake the bottle to mix ingredients.

3. Spray a small amount of the mixture directly on the hardwood floor. Rub into the floor using a soft cloth. Allow the mixture to work into the stain for five minutes.

4. Wipe the area with a damp, soft cloth to remove any remaining residue. Repeat as needed to remove stains.

5. Dry the area using a towel.
