Foods With No Carbs & No Sugar

There are very few foods that contain zero carbohydrates and zero sugars. Carbohydrates are found in anything that comes from plants: beans, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and, of course, any product made from grains or flours. Dairy products usually contain lactose, a form of sugar. Added sugars can be found in just about any pre-packaged food. However, there are a few foods you can find without them.

Meats

Cuts of natural meat, such as chicken, pork and beef, are sugar- and carb-free. Stay away from processed meat, which usually has added sugars or fillers.

Fish

Most natural cuts of fresh fish, such as tuna or salmon, are sugar- and carb-free. Most shellfish, however, have very small amounts of carbs.

Eggs

Eggs whites are pure protein, and the yolk is pure fat. If you want to reduce cholesterol, remove some or all of the yolks and stick mainly to the whites.

Fats

Vegetable or olive oils are pure fats and will not add any sugars or carbs in cooking. Some oil-based dressings can be found without added sugars or carbs.

Beverages

Water, club soda and tea have no carbs, as long as they are not sweetened or flavored. Remember that artificial sweeteners do contain some carbs.
