Rose quartz is found around the world.


Rose quartz is a variety of quartz that comes in shades of pink and may possess rutile inclusions. It is used in carvings and jewelry, and is also one of the birthstones for January.


Locations of rose quartz sources include North America, South America, Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Of these sources, rose quartz is mainly obtained from Brazil, the United States, Madagascar, India and Germany.


Brazil


Brazil is the best source of quality rose quartz today. Within Brazil, the best source of rose quartz is in the state of Minas Gerias. This state is located in eastern Brazil and is known for having mountainous terrain.


United States


Rose quartz can be found in 18 of the 50 states that make up the United States. These states include Colorado, Georgia, California, Maine, New York, Connecticut, Alabama, North Carolina, Arizona, Wyoming, Virginia, South Dakota, Washington, Texas, Nevada, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.


However the most well-known source of rose quartz in the United States is South Dakota, where it is the state gemstone, specifically in the city of Custer. The first crystals of rose quartz officially discovered came from Rumford, Maine.


Madagascar








In Madagascar, people have found rose quartz in the four provinces of Antananarivo, Fianarantsoa, Antsiranana and Mahajanga.


India


India's rose quartz source is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh in north-central India.
