Program A Liftmaster Keypad

Use a four digit code that only you will know when programming your keypad.

The Liftmaster keypad is simple to program and will only require a few minutes of time. The keypad is a good way to operate your garage door opener without having to go into the garage or using your car remotes. The Liftmaster garage door openers use a program button that will give you ample time to program the keypad on the door jamb. It is a good idea when creating a four digit code to choose a code that is easy for you to remember but not so obvious that anyone else could guess.

Instructions

1. Press the garage door opener wall button or use your remote control to open the garage door.

2. Set a step ladder under the garage door opener power head so that you can reach the back of the motor.

3. Look for the programming button near the two limit switch screws on the back of the power head. The programming button is a square button beside a small LED light.

4. Press the programming button to illuminate the LED light. This indicates that the opener is ready to receive the new keypad code. You will have 30 seconds to program the keypad.

5. Go to the keypad and enter a four digit number, then press and hold the enter button. Release the enter button when the garage door opener lights blink.

6. Press the code into the keypad and press the enter button, and the garage door opener will operate to close the garage door.

Tips Warnings

Do not use birthdays, anniversary dates or street addresses as a code. These are too easy for someone else to guess and attempt to get inside your garage without permission.
