18 year old Olsen furnace blower does not work at auto but work with manual
Hi, I need your help to figure out my furnace. I just started the furnace。 The blower works at manual, but does not in auto setting when a high temperature setting required. Many thanks!!! So when you have it set on AUTO and you run the furnace, what happens? Does the furnace get real hot, and maybe even start to smell burnt, and then shut down the furnace? Is the AUTO and manual setting on the thermostat? Do you have a motor with different speed settings? If you have a blower motor that not only has a black and white and 2 brown(capacitor) and green ground wires, but also has say a red and yellow wire, it is multi-speed. And does this furnace have a control board that the blower wires plug into, or does it tap into a fan-limit switch located above the burners? Thank you for reply! When it was set on AUTO, the induced fan started running, but blower did not start; Ignitor turned red, no gas came in, and then ignitor turned off (I watched it going off through glass window). I did not smell burnt. Yes, AUTO and ON (manual) were set on the thermostat. The wiring diagram shows hi and med wiring connection (it should be with different speed settings) and with a capacitor. The blower was equipped with red, blue, white wires, and 2 brown for capacitor, a green ground wire. The furnace has a fan limit switch located above the burner. I changed the new thermostat this afternoon. The furnace still did not work. There is no any issue with the thermostat (i suspected it yesterday) Two pictures were taken. Thank for your time!!! sqiu1998 Control sqiu1998 blower Above are links to two pictures Your furnace senses heat to turn on the blower, in HEAT/AUTO mode. No fire, no blower. I just gave causes for no fire to a post yesterday. In your case, also make sure the gas valve at the meter did not get turned off (say from non-payment), or that someone in your house did not turn off a gas valve down by the furnace. You should have two down there - one in the 1/2 inch? line near the furnace, and another one being the gasvalve that is in the burner compartment. If the inducer motor ran, the igniter warmed up, but the gas never came on then you should check your gas valve. You may not have any gas pressure if the pilot won't even light. Or you could have a mechanical problem within the gas valve itself. Many thanks, kyoung22 and ecman51 I checked the gas valve, it is ok. The issue is no flame after ignition. The ignitor still turned red by control cylcle. The resistance is 488. I could not find the manufacturing spec. for it. I decided to take the ignitor out to test it with my BBQ outdoor. I saw there was a crack, when I touched it, it fell apart. The issue comes from this ignitor. I ordered the part on internet. It will come next Thursday.
