File For Medical Disability For Stress In Texas

Texas provides Medicaid benefits to low-income individuals with a medical disability. Anxiety disorders, such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), are considered qualifying disabilities if they impair the person's ability to obtain and maintain employment.

Instructions

1. Gather the necessary documents that must be submitted to Medicaid. This includes a government-issued photo identification card, Social Security statement or card, birth certificate, proof of earnings such as pay stubs, Social Security award letters, or child support payments, bank statements, documentation of all other cash-value resources (i.e. car title or house deed), medical bills, insurance policies, a lease for your apartment, utility bills and medical records that support your disability. For an anxiety disorder, you will likely need a psychological exam and other records that specifically state that you are unable to work as a result of this disorder.

2. Complete a Medicaid application, providing your full name, Social Security number, address and phone number. Submit this application with the documents from Step 1 as instructed on the application.

3. If you are denied benefits, write an appeal letter and submit it to your local or state Medicaid office within the designated time frame. Gather documentation that further supports your disability and submit this documentation. Be prepared to state the exact reasons why you are unable to work if you are required to attend a hearing with an administrative law judge.
