Happy Feet
Natural body detoxification and body cleansing have grown into a huge industry and many people are looking for ways to enhance their health through alternative sources. Body cleansing through the feet is supposed to release toxins from the body through the pores of the feet. While there is no scientific evidence to support these claims, some people are very satisfied with their results and include the process in their body cleansing routine.
Ionic Foot Bath
The foot bath can be conducted in a medical office, chiropractic office, spa/salon or at home. You begin the process by sitting in a chair and putting your feet in a tub of salted water with an ionizer array in it. The unit will produce negative and positive ions. The negative ions will attach to oppositely charged ions (the toxins) in
Pads and Patches
Foot pads and patches are composed of natural extracts, including bamboo vinegar, citronella, tourmaline and other extracts. Different ingredients are used in different types of pads, so read the labels and make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. Place the pads on your feet at night when you sleep, and in the morning when you remove the pads they will be discolored, supposedly from drawing the different toxins from your body. According to an expert at the Mayo Clinic, there is no scientific evidence to support these claims.
Considerations
Skin and feet do not play a part in body detoxification; toxins are expelled through the digestive system, liver and kidneys. With ionic foot baths and pads there is no solid scientific research available to back up the claims that they work, but there are people who use these types of products feel differently and report feelings of improved physical health.
