Japanese Acne Treatments

Japanese people are known for their beautiful skin. In Japan, acne prevention and treatment begins early in life with oils and essences rubbed into the skin. All-natural and cost-effective, these techniques work mainly by drying up the excess oil in the skin's sebaceous glands. Some of these techniques, such as the tea tree oil, date back over a thousand years.

Oil Treatment

Wash your face with water that's as warm as you can take it. This will open your pores. Pour out about a dime-sized portion of pure Camellia oil and rub it into the affected skin. Let it soak in for about a minute or two, then wash your face with cold water to remove the excess oil and close your pores. Cocoa shea products and Japanese tea tree oil work as well and may be applied in a similar fashion. Some other oils and substances include witch hazel, aloe vera, calendula, vitamin E and grapeseed oil.

Tea Treatments

Make an infusion (tea) with rooibos tea to be taken orally. Boil 12 oz. of water and steep 1 tbsp. of the tea for five minutes.

You can also make a poultice, or paste, with the rooibos tea for topical application. Mix the dry tea leaves with just enough water to dampen it and make a paste-like substance. Apply the mixture to the affected area and cover with gauze or cloth to get good contact. Let it soak in for 10 to 15 minutes, then wash the face with cold water and soap.

General Skin Health

Diet plays an important part in skin health. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and staying well hydrated will help overall skin health. Green tea with citrus added is a very good antioxidant source and also good for overall health. Washing your face with a good soap several times a day will help prevent the oil buildup and bacterial growth that causes the acne.

Other Oral Treatments

Mix together in equal parts the extracts of burdock, yellow dock, sarsaparilla and cleavers. Take 1/2 tsp. a day mixed into a glass of water or juice. These herbs aid in acne treatment by cleansing the lymph system as well as the blood. By cleansing the inside of the body, less oil is produced and pores are less likely to be clogged when there isn't as much oil on the skin.
