Remove Earwax With Candles

Earwax candles are made from beeswax and cotton cloth that produces smoke as it burns that travels down the candle and into the ear canal causing the earwax to soften and flow out into the candle. Although this procedure is not medically certified, it is an alternative method. When it is done correctly, it will help remove built up earwax in the ear. Before you remove earwax with candles, you must know what to do and do it safely.

Instructions

1. Lie the person down on her side. Use a pillow to make her head comfortable. Keep her head level with her body.

2. Add water to the small glass bowl. Place the bowl close to the work area, along with a pair of scissors.

3. Trim the end of the candle that will fit into the ear so it has a snug fit. Make sure the opening of the candle is not stuck together. Use a toothpick or the tip of the scissors to open the end.

4. Cut a hole out of the middle of a paper plate just large enough for the candle to fit through snuggly. Insert the candle into the paper plate with the widest end of the candle on top and the smallest part of the candle on the bottom.

5. Light the candle with the lighter. Place your finger over the bottom end of the candle after it is lit for 10 seconds to get the smoke going inside the candle.

6. Place the skinniest part of the candle in the opening of the ear. Ask the person who is receiving the treatment to hold the paper plate in her own ear. If smoke is coming out of her ear, the candle is not seated well in the ear and must be adjusted so the smoke is going into the ear and not escaping out the bottom.

7. Use the scissors to cut off the candle ash as it gets to long. Place the bowl by the candle, and snip the ash. Cut half way between the flame and the ash, lift up and deposit into the water.

8. Keep the candle in the ear for at least 15 minutes or until it gets too small and too close to the plate.
