Become A Cpr First Aid Trainer

CPR first aid trainers are responsible for teaching and certifying others in CPR first aid techniques. They must demonstrate excellent communication skills, professional behavior and have a positive attitude. They teach courses on a variety of topics, including first aid techniques and CPR. Some courses they teach will also cover HIV/AIDS prevention and water safety, depending upon the client's requirements. The benefits are many: You can make a difference in others' lives, teach others to save lives and continuously gain teaching experience.

Instructions

1. Become first aid CPR certified at the student level. Student level certification is the minimum certification to sit for the instructor trainer course that will allow you to teach CPR.

2. Enroll in the first aid school of your choice. Request information regarding pricing and class times. There are numerous certification agencies that offer first aid trainer courses, such as the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the National Safety Council. Courses usually cover such topics as breathing and cardiac emergencies, emergency care for bleeding, sudden illnesses and injuries.

3. Register for the course offered by the agency of your choice. Fees for the courses vary. For example, the instructor course for first aid and CPR that is offered by the National Safety Council costs $275 for members and $325 for non-members, as of 2009.

4. Register with your local board's training center as a CPR instructor. Contact your training instructor for relevant information.

5. Begin marketing your CPR training services. OSHA, or the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, requires most companies to have a set number of employees to be first aid certified. Contact local corporations and ask if they would be willing to hire you to train their employees in first aid.
