Natural Medicine For Depression

Depression is not just sadness but a very serious mental condition. Nearly 20 million adults are diagnosed with depression every year. Omega 3 fatty acids are a type of good fat needed to help good brain function. Good brain function can help treat depression. Omega 3 fatty acids are in foods such as salmon, sardines and anchovies. It is also available in capsule form to prevent high mercury levels that can be found in these fish.


Sam-e


Sam-e is short for S-adenosyl-L-methionine and is a chemical naturally found in our body and increases neurotransmitters, serotonin and dopamine. It has been found more effective than placebo and can be found in health food stores and drug stores.








Folic Acid


Folic acid is a B Vitamin that is often deficient in people who suffer from depression. Folic acid can be found in green leafy vegetables, fruit, beans and grains. It can also be found in supplement form or as a part of a B vitamin in health food stores and drugs stores.


Diet


Adding a healthy diet and exercise every day can help in the treatment of depression. Avoid too much sugar intake, alcohol, drugs and caffeine, and increase your intake of magnesium and Vitamin B.
