Remove Mouth Braces

It took a lot of work and many years of dedication, but you're finally ready to remove your mouth braces. They were difficult to get on and difficult to wear for all these years, but by comparison, getting them off will be a breeze. Removing your mouth braces shouldn't hurt at all. In fact, it only takes about two to five minutes.

Instructions

1. Schedule an appointment with your orthodontist to get your mouth braces removed. Don't attempt to remove them yourself. It will be quick and easy for your orthodontist, but special tools are required.

2. Open your mouth wide enough for your orthodontist to insert special pliers and remove your braces. He'll start by squeezing each bracket with the pliers. This will separate the brackets from your teeth and allow them to come off. They may come off in one piece, or they may break, depending on the type of braces you have.

3. Be prepared for your orthodontist to remove your bands if you have them. Using the special pliers, he'll remove each band from the individual tooth it fits around. To separate the bands from your teeth, you orthodontist may need to use a little more force. During this process, you may feel a small amount of pressure, but pain is uncommon.

4. Take a moment to relax while your orthodontist readies the polishing handpiece. He'll use the handpiece to polish away any leftover glue or cement from your teeth. If there are large pieces, he may need to scrape them away with special pliers before polishing. Patients with sensitive teeth may find this process uncomfortable, but this isn't a common issue. Your teeth should be perfectly clean in less than five minutes.
