Prevent Ingrowth After Lasik

Epithelial ingrowth at the end of a successful LASIK treatment may not be a sign of a complication, but of healing. LASIK procedures involve using laser beams for the correction of vision disorders like myopia, hypermetropia and cataracts. The epithelial ingrowth results from the continued growth of a few live epithelial cells under the replaced corneal flap. Though not immediately evident after LASIK surgery, the ingrowths can be experienced after a few weeks after the surgery was performed. Some of the epithelial ingrowths resolve on their own, while some of them that come with non-resolvable discomfort like blurry vision have to be taken care of.

Instructions

1. Do not touch your eye frequently after LASIK.

2. Add eye drops on a regular basis to keep the eye flap moisturized and avoid dryness.

3. Trim you nails to avoid any sort of accidental harm to the flap from sharp edges.

4. Avoid using any non-steroidal eye drops.

5. Wear glasses (non-prescription) throughout the day to prevent dust or foreign objects getting in your eyes.
