Ayurvedic Healing For Diabetes 1

According to practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine, diabetes is a metabolic kapha-type disorder, in which the diminishing function of agni has a tendency to lead to high blood-sugar levels. There are 24 forms of the disease which are recognized by Ayurvedic medicine.


Herbs


The most important herbs tend to be shilajit, gudmar turmeric, neem, amalaki, guggul and arjuna. Turmeric is sometimes mixed with aloe vera gel. This mixture works best if used during the early stages of diabetes. It can be used for regulating pancreas and liver functions. Homemade turmeric capsules can also be made. You can usually purchase empty capsules at your local health food store. Fill 00-size capsules with turmeric and take two capsules three times per day. Each dosage should be taken before meals. This regimen can be conducted for up to one month. The individual's condition should be re-evaluated after the first month of treatment.


Another Ayurvedic remedy is to take ½ tsp. of ground bay leaf and mix it with ½ tsp. of turmeric. Mix in 1 tbsp. of aloe vera gel. This mixture should be taken twice a day, before lunch and dinner.








More Herbal Preparations


Mix together and grind the seeds of 100 mg of fenugreek with 50 mg of turmeric and a pinch of white pepper. Take approximately 1 tsp. of the powder mixture with a glass of milk twice a day. If this mixture isn't tasty enough, soak 1 tsp. of fenugreek seed in water. This particular mixture can be taken in the morning with water or milk.


Mix 500 mg of amalaki churna, 500 mg of turmeric powder and 125 mg of naag bhasma together. Take with honey twice a day or every 12 hours.


The herb gudmar helps the pancreas digest sugars. A combination of gudmar and shilajit is also used in the treatment of diabetes.


Diet


Individuals with diabetes I should follow the kapha-pacifying diet, avoiding consuming excessive quantities of sweets, carbohydrates and dairy products. Bitter herbs and fresh vegetables are an appropriate dietary choice for individuals who have been diagnosed with diabetes I, according to Ayurvedic medicine. Additionally, reduce fat intake, particularly butter and ghee.


Researchers at Harold Hamm Oklahoma Diabetes Center may have found a way to combat type I diabetes using vitamin C and insulin. Vitamin C can be found in lemons and oranges, so incorporating these citrus fruits into the diet may be beneficial to individuals diagnosed with type I diabetes. Combining the two may help blood vessel damage caused by diabetes.
