Treat Tension Headaches Naturally

Treat tension headaches naturally and get rid of muscle tightness around the forehead. You don't have to live with tension headaches. Consider ways to relax your facial muscles and get rid of pain without medication.

Instructions

1. Get rid of stress. Stress and anxiety are major factors in tension headaches. Reduce stress to alleviate tension. Take a hot bath, practice deep breathing, decrease responsibilities, or take natural supplements to calm tension and reduce stress.

2. Go to bed. Too little sleep can cause tension to develop in your neck and facial muscles. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep a night. If necessary, take a natural sleep aid such as Melatonin to induce rest.

3. Check your eyes. See an eye doctor to assess your vision. Poor eyesight or straining to read can induce tension headaches.

4. Adjust your computer. Bright computer monitors can bring on eyestrain and tension headaches. Reduce the glare by adjusting your monitor's brightness, and decrease the amount of time spent in front of the computer to treat tension headaches.

5. Consider massage therapy. Enjoy a 30 or 60 minute massage to help relieve muscle tension and get rid of a tension headache.

6. Dull tension with heat or cold. Place a heated cloth or pad, or an ice pack on your forehead to help get rid of a tension headache.
