Different Types Of Walnut Trees

Several types of walnut trees exist and can be identified by the color of their flowers and their fruit. In addition, each has a different growth potential and requires a specific amount of water and sunlight.


Black Walnut Tree


The black walnut tree blooms in late spring and requires a lot of water and sunlight. When fully grown, it stands close to 100 feet; it can be identified by its yellow flowers and brown fruit.








Arizona Walnut Tree








The Arizona walnut tree also blooms in late spring and requires an average amount of water and sunlight; it stands close to 50 feet when fully grown and can be identified by its brown flowers and brown fruit.


Little Walnut Tree


The little walnut tree gets its name from its small size. It requires an average amount of water and sunlight and when fully grown stands only about 20 feet tall; it blooms in mid spring with green flowers and black fruit.


English Walnut Tree


The English walnut tree can grow up to 60 feet tall. It blooms in mid spring and requires a large amount of water and sunlight; it is identified by its white flowers and brown fruit.


Japanese Walnut Tree


The Japanese walnut tree stands at 65 feet when fully grown, but most remain closer to 35 feet. The tree blooms in spring with flowers of yellow-green and requires an average amount of water and sunlight.
