Make Your Braces Hurt Less

Anyone who has ever had to wear braces knows that there is a significant amount of pain and discomfort that comes from wearing them. And while the pain is inevitable after having the braces tightened, there are several things that you can do to help elevate that discomfort. It is also possible to eradicate general everyday brace pain. A proper diet and precautions are your best tools for making your braces hurt less.

Instructions

1. Take acetaminophen or Ibuprofen (according to directions) to ease your discomfort. Take the medicine an hour before you have your braces tightened.

2. Apply Anbesol to the tender areas of your gums and teeth. This will offer short-term pain relief.

3. Brush your teeth with a soft-bristled toothbrush while using toothpaste for sensitive teeth. This will help with your tender gums and teeth.

4. Add a teaspoon of table salt to a full glass of lukewarm water.

5. Swish the salt-water mixture in your mouth for at least 60 seconds. This will help to heal any sores or cuts due to your braces.

6. Apply dental wax to the brackets of your braces. This will ease the pain of the brackets being cemented to your teeth.
