Natural Treatment For Fever Blisters

Fever blisters are commonly known as cold sores, and there are a lot of natural treatments that will help clear up the problem. Fever blisters are caused by the herpes simplex complex. A tingling or itching feeling will begin in the area of the fever blister prior to its formation. This is an ideal time to begin a natural treatment.


Ice Treatment


Ice can be applied to the fever blister for 5 to 10 minutes each hour. This will delay development of the fever blister.


Tea Bag Treatment


Apply a soaked teabag for 5 to 10 minutes every hour, when you first notice a fever blister forming. The tannic acid in the teabag has antiviral qualities, and will prevent the fever blister from developing further.


Baking Soda


Apply baking soda directly to the fever blister. This forms an alkaline environment on the skin, making it nearly impossible for the fever blister to get any worse.


Lemon Balm Extract


Apply lemon balm extract directly to the cold sore. Lemon balm extract has healing and soothing properties.








Vitamins


Take a vitamin B complex vitamin. Folic acid is helpful with healing fever blisters.


Honey


Apply a small amount of honey to the fever blister. Honey contains antiviral properties, and is also an antifungal.
