Home Remedies For Bad Morning Breath

Waking up with bad morning breath, also called halitosis, may cause you to be embarrassed and make you avoid contact with your partner, kids and coworkers until you can get rid of the odor. Bad breath in the mornings may be a result of what you did (or did not do) the night before, and you can do things to remedy the situation. According to the National Library of Medicine and Drugs.com, home remedies for bad morning breath include changing personal habits and improving dental hygiene.

Gargling

Gargling with half a teaspoon of salt mixed with a glass of water after you wake up can kill bacteria that cause bad breath.

Cleaning

Brushing your teeth with a baking soda paste or any toothpaste as soon as you get up can reduce bad breath.

Tea

Drinking hot peppermint or lemon tea can get rid of bacteria in your mouth and freshen your breath.

Hydration

Drinking water when you first get up can rinse leftover odors from last night's food from your mouth.

Mints

If you do not have time to drink tea or brush your teeth, sucking on a sugar-free mint can provide fast relief from bad morning breath.

Parsley

Chewing on fresh parsley can reduce symptoms of bad breath in the morning or after an aromatic meal containing onions or garlic.
