Inhale Essential Oils

Aromatherapy techniques include various ways of using the essential oils. One of the methods is inhaling the oil. Essential oils can be added to a steam bath and inhaled, or placed on a cloth and inhaled. While many preparations require essential oils to be blended, inhalation does not, making it a convenient and portable method of aromatherapy that can be performed in almost any situation.

Instructions

1. Choose your essential oil. Each type of oil will have different health benefits.

2. Apply a few drops of essential oil to a handkerchief or tissue. Hold the item underneath the nose without touching the skin and breathe deeply. This is a portable method of inhalation which can be used in almost any circumstance.

3. Heat a bowl of water so it is hot but not boiling. Add a few drops of essential oil to the bowl. Hold your head over the bowl and drape with a towel. Breathe deeply, inhaling the steam.

4. Use an essential oil burner or diffuser to scent an entire area with aromatherapy oils. Each burner will have a different method of setup and function. Many require that water be added to the bowl or bulb, and a few drops of aromatherapy oil is added to the water. When the water heats, it diffuses the smell of the oils over a particular area.
