What Is Damiana Herb

What Is Damiana Herb?

In the southwest region of the United States, an herbal shrub called damiana is grown. Damiana reportedly works wonders when it comes to sexual pleasure. Damiana is believed to have an impact on the reproductive and hormonal systems in our body.

Euphoria

Damiana reportedly induces an euphoric dream-like state that enhances sexual performance and desire. Since the time of the Mayan civilization, liquor has been made from the leaves of the damiana herb. This liquor is considered an aphrodisiac.

Main Ingredient

The main ingredient in damiana is terpenes (see link in Resources). A terpene is a hydrocarbon, oxygen-containing compound, such as alcohol. Terpenes are found in the oils that give a plant its fragrance.

Action

The damiana herb acts as a diuretic and laxative as well as, reportedly having anti-anxiety and anti-depressant components.

Can Be Drunk or Smoked

The damiana herb can be consumed in the form of an herbal tea or it can be smoked (see link in Resources). It has been reported that damiana has the ability to put the user in a relaxed state of mind and produces a bit of a high, comparable to the effects of smoking marijuana.

Warning

Damiana can interfere with blood pressure medicine and medication taken for depression, so take this into account before using it.
