Home Remedy To Hide Blemishes

Blemishes such as pimples, pock marks and acne scars can be embarrassing and difficult to hide. Layering heavy makeup on your skin to hide blemishes can result in clogged pores, dry skin and irritation. There are ways to fade and treat blemishes on the skin naturally using organic ingredients mixed in your own kitchen.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a great way to help blemishes such as acne scars on your face. If you have very greasy skin, you may want to avoid an olive oil treatment. Rubbing 100 percent pure extra virgin olive oil on your acne scars three times a day for two to four weeks will produce noticeable results.

Lemon Juice

Applying pure lemon juice to acne scars, age spots or other discolored areas helps improve the appearance of skin. Lemon juice is a natural skin lightener that "bleaches" the skin gently, producing results in only a few days.

Another way to hide blemishes is to make a lemon juice paste with 1 teaspoon of milk powder, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix until completely blended. Add 1/2 teaspoon of almond oil. Apply the paste to your skin and leave it on for 15 minutes, then rinse clean. This not only improves the appearance of your skin, but also prevents blemishes.

Another helpful paste consists of 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder and the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon. Apply this mixture directly onto the blemishes, and it will help lighten your skin.Turmeric is a yellow powder that has many other health benefits including keeping you heart, liver and lungs healthy. Turmeric powder is also used in traditional Indian medicine, which is called Ayurveda.

Masoor Dal

Another Ayurvedic method of hiding skin blemishes is masoor dal, which are red or orange lentils. Recipes with masoor dal are a little more complicated, and may require a bit more time. Create an overnight mask using equal quantities of yellow mustard (all-natural), chirauli (an Indian nut that is pounded into a powder) and masoor dal powder. before bed, wash and dry your face. Apply the paste. In the morning, wash the dried mask off with warm water.

You can also roast red lentils and ghee, a type of clarified Indian butter, to make a blemish-hiding mask. Once the lentils and ghee are thoroughly roasted, mix it together with a little bit of milk to create a paste. Massage the paste into your skin for a few minutes, then rinse it off.

Manuka Honey

Originating in New Zealand, Manuka honey has many skin-improving qualities. Because of the amino acids and sugars contained in Manuka honey, it helps reduce the appearance of scars and blemishes. It also helps prevent scarring by repairing wounds. The easiest way to use Manuka honey to hide blemishes is to squeeze a small amount onto some sterile gauze and apply it directly to the scar or blemish. Change the gauze at least every 12 hours.
