Apply Hair Oil

Some common household oils can enhance your hair's appearance.

Even if you regularly use conditioner, your hair may still need extra care to achieve a shiny, healthy appearance. Using hair oil may help keep your hair soft, moisturized and manageable. There are many different types of oils to use in your hair, such as jojoba oil, almond oil and even olive oil. After you've selected an appropriate oil, you may use a little for daily treatments or apply a deep-conditioning treatment.

Instructions

Daily Use

1. Use an appropriate oil for your hair type. If you have thick or coarse hair, try coconut or olive oil. People with thin hair may prefer use almond or sesame oil. If you have damaged hair that is prone to splitting, jojoba oil may be an ideal choice for you.

2. Place a few drops of oil on your palm. Rub your hands together.

3. Apply the oil evenly throughout your hair, running your fingers through the strands. Avoid touching your scalp directly. Use daily or on an as-needed basis, whenever your hair appears excessively dry.

Hot Oil Treatment

4. Use a hot oil treatment every few weeks, or when your hair needs extra conditioning. Warm up ¼ cup of the oil in the microwave until it is just warm to the touch. If the oil feels hot, allow it to cool.

5. Apply the warm oil to your hair, beginning with the tips and working your way up. Do not apply the oil within 1 inch of your scalp.

6. Secure your hair on top of your head with a hair tie. Wrap a warm, damp towel around your head.

7. Wait for at least one hour. Wash your hair.
