Use A Black & Decker Food Processor

Black & Decker Quick 'N Easy Plus® Food Processor

Food processors make chopping your foods easy, cutting down on meal preparation time. There are various functions to Black & Decker processors, depending upon which one you use. Though most are similar to each other, a few might have a couple of extra features, depending on the degree of intensity of the machine.

Instructions

Use a Black & Decker Quick 'N Easy Plus Food Processor

1. Start by washing your vegetables thoroughly and, if necessary, peel your vegetables before placing them in the processor.

2. Place the container bowl over the center post that is attached to the base of the unit where the motor is located, making sure the handle is to the left. Turn the container bowl counterclockwise until it drops down into place. Snap the container in toward the base and make sure the locking tab locks into place. Place the disc stem onto the center post in the container bowl, then grasp the slicer/shredder disc by its hub with the disc facing up. Push it down onto the disc stem to lock the disc. Make sure the cover of the container is facing down toward the base. Twist the cover counterclockwise to lock it. You will hear it click into place. Never try to place the lid on the container bowl before you lock the container bowl into place first at the base of the unit. This feature has been put into place to prevent damage to the unit and to prevent possible bodily harm to the end user.

3. To chop or puree your food, process the food into the mixing bowl by using the food chute, attached to the lid of the unit. A food chute is the round hole in the top of the lid that looks like a tube.

4. Place the disc stem onto the center post within the container and slip the discharge disc onto the stem. A disc stem is a long metal or plastic piece placed in the center of the unit that holds the various blades in place. Be sure the discharge disc (blades) is facing up. They are round, sharp metal blades that look like a CD.

5. This processor has two speeds--the High/Low button and the pulse button. The High/Low button will run continuously until you press "Off." The pulse button must be pressed and held for the unit to operate. Once the button is released, the unit will stop. Use the pulse position for short processing tasks, like chopping nuts, raw meats or vegetables. Using this feature allows you to also check the processing results and will help you control the fineness of your food.

6. Turn on the machine to the desired speed when using the High/Low button and begin to feed your food into the food chute. If the food is too large to fit into the chute, then cut it into smaller pieces so the food will feed through the chute. The chopped or sliced food will discharge from the disc and land toward the bottom of the container bowl.

7. Remove the top of the processor bowl and the chute counterclockwise, once the food has been processed. Remove the center of the disc before removing the processed food from the bowl. Tapping any excess food left on the center stem and blade/disc back into the bowl. Food is now ready for further cooking and/or salads.

8. To clean, remove the lid, food chute, blades, disc stems and container bowl by turning clockwise, carefully separating each piece one at a time. Use extra caution when removing the blades/discs. All parts with the exception of the base unit that houses the motor and electrical cord can be hand washed and/or placed in a dishwasher. When hand washing the blades, never drop the blades into the water possibly obstructing your visibility when reaching for them at a later time, which could result in possible cuts to your hands and/or fingers. If this happens, use another object like a spatula to fish the blades/discs out of the water. Wipe the base of the unit that houses the motor and electric cord with a damp cloth or sponge. Never immerse the base unit in water. It can ruin the unit or cause electrical shock once it's plugged in again.
