Chiropractors treat patients with health conditions concerning the human musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor, the demand for professionally trained chiropractors will grow by at least 20 percent through to 2018. Chiropractor training typically requires two-to-four years of undergraduate education followed by an accredited four-year doctorate degree in chiropractic medicine. According to the Council on Chiropractic Education, there are only two such accredited training programs in Texas. The nearest out-of-state program is in Overland Park, Kansas.
Texas Chiropractic College
In addition to its doctor of chiropractic program, Texas Chiropractic College offers a bachelor of science in human biology and several post-graduate diploma and certificate programs in preventative medicine, clinical nutrition, chiropractic sports medicine, acupuncture and kinesiotaping. Candidates of the doctorate degree must hold a bachelor’s degree that includes courses in biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physics, English, psychology and social science with a GPA of at least 2.5 or higher to be considered for admission. Students complete 10 trimesters of coursework, including spinal anatomy, palpation, histology, embryology, immunology, spinal biomechanics, physiology, pathology, lower and upper extremity biomechanics, adjusting procedures, diagnostic imaging, toxicology and pharmacology, alternative medicine, orthopedics, soft tissue mobilization and clinical applications.

Parker College of Chiropractic
The Parker College of Chiropractic offers a doctor of chiropractic degree program. Applicants must have an undergraduate degree that includes coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, English and social science or humanities with a GPA of at least 2.5 or better. Three letters of reference are also required. This 10-trimester program is comprised of courses in anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and motion palpation, pathology, diagnostic imaging, chiropractic principles, spinal analysis and technique, physiotherapy, clinical orthopedics and various chiropractic techniques. The final three trimesters consist of practical internships in a clinical setting. A bachelor of science in anatomy, a bachelor of science in health and wellness and an online chiropractic assistant program are also available.

Cleveland Chiropractic College
With locations in both Los Angeles and Kansas City, Cleveland Chiropractic College offers several programs in addition to its doctor of chiropractic program. These include an associate and bachelor degree in biology and a master of science in health promotion. Applicants of the doctorate program require a bachelor’s degree that includes courses in biology, chemistry, physics, English, psychology and social science or humanities with a GPA of at least 2.5 and no grade less than "C." In addition to the four-year 12-trimester program, an accelerated 10-trimester option and a concurrent bachelor of science in human biology program are also offered. Course topics include systemic and spinal anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology, spinal assessment, head and neck anatomy, pathology, chiropractic techniques, physical diagnosis, soft tissue methods, physiotherapy, spinal adjustment and chiropractic business management. Three clinical internships are also required.
