Diy Picnic Blankets

Cover the ground or the top of a table with a picnic blanket.

Keep a blanket in the car and you’ll always be ready for an old-fashioned picnic. Blankets can be spread on the ground for comfortable seating and a clean place to hold food and plates. A fast-food meal will quickly change into a treat with the help of a blanket and a shady tree. Making a do-it-yourself picnic blanket is fairly simple.

Instructions

1. Cut the fabric to the desired size, using scissors. Place one piece of fabric facing down on a flat surface. Lay the second fabric, facing up, to match the edges of the first piece. Use safety pins to hold the two pieces of fabric together.

2. Cut a 5-inch square from thin cardboard. Place the square on the inside corner of the fleece and cut along the square to remove the fabric. Cut the other three corners in this manner.

3. Lay a ruler across the bottom edge of the fabric. Move the ruler up 5 inches so it is touching the inside corners on the left and right side of the material. Use a fabric marker to mark a guideline. Start cutting 1-inch-wide strips along the width of the blanket. Start from the edge of the fabric and stop at the guideline. Finish the other three sides, using this procedure.

4. Tie each strip with a knot as close to the uncut blanket as possible. Use a balloon knot to keep both layers of material going in the same direction. Use a double knot to produce fringe that has separated layers. Remove all the pins from the fabric.
