Ashtanga yoga is a type of exercise that uses breath and motion to rid the body of toxins. To teach this type of yoga, you must be a qualified instructor. Follow these steps to become an Ashtanga yoga instructor

Becoming an Ashtanga Yoga Instructor


1. Practice Ashtanga yoga yourself. You should be proficient in Ashtanga yoga before your consider teaching anyone else. You will be a much better instructor if this type of yoga is a main point of focus in your life.


2. Enroll in a local yoga training institute. Many yoga schools offer instructor classes in different types of yoga. In addition to studying the Ashtanga yoga techniques, it is helpful to become well-versed in other types of yoga as well.








3. Travel to the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute (AYRI) in Mysore, India. While this is not necessary to teach Ashtanga yoga prinicpals, it is required to become a certified Ashtanga yoga instructor. Most visits are at least three months and will qualify you to teach beginning Ashtanga yoga. Additional visits are required to become a master Ashtanga yoga instructor.
