Herbs That Are Good With Colon Hydrotherapy

Herbs for colon health

Colon hydrotherapy is a common and effective way of cleansing out the colon in order to maintain and restore the colon's optimum health. In this therapy, enemas are used to inject water mixed with various healing herbs into the colon with a certain amount of pressure in order to reach the entire colon. The water is held in as long as possible by the individual and then released into an airtight container. Some of the machines used for colon hydrotherapy have a clear tube in order to observe the fecal matter that is leaving the body.

Slippery Elm

Slippery Elm

When added to a mixture used during colon hydrotherapy, slippery elm will help coat the intestines with mucilage. Slippery elm's mucilage is anti-inflammatory, and it also stimulates the gastrointestinal tract to increase its own mucus secretion. This helps protect the gastrointestinal tract against excess acidity and ulcers. Slippery elm is especially good with healing ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Add a spoonful slippery elm bark powder to boiling water and strain with the rest of the herbs, then add the mixture to the water used for the colon hydrotherapy.

Neem

Neem

Neem is a powerful herb that will aid the health of the colon when used in colon hydrotherapy. Well-known for it's anti-septic, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, neem helps heal fungal infections that may be present in the colon. Contrary to pharmaceutical antibiotics, neem does not kill good bacteria in the intestines. It is a strong detoxifier of the blood and stimulates T-cell production, which helps fight harmful infections. Neem is especially effective in treating ulcerative colitis and amoebic intestinal infections. It is not recommended if pregnant or lactating. Boil 10 mg of dried neem leaves with the brew that will be added to the water of the colon hydrotherapy.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an effective anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent that helps in cleansing out the colon. The fenugreek seeds become mucilaginous when moistened, helping line the intestine and protecting the gastrointestinal tract from ulcers. Mucilage also relieves pain caused by ulcers that may already be present, and with the help of the other herbs combined in the colon hydrotherapy water, it will aid in healing them and other wounds in the colon. Add a pinch of fenugreek seeds to the solution of herbs intended for this purpose.
