Frontline Instructions
Frontline protects cats and dogs from fleas, but improper application can harm your pet or reduce the product's efficacy. Apply Frontline spot-on treatment once monthly for yearlong flea control, or use Frontline spray as an initial step to stopping a severe flea infestation. Only use Frontline if your cat or dog is eight weeks of age or older.
Spot-on Frontline Dosage
Check the packaging to ensure the appropriate dosage for your pet. The manufacturer packages Frontline according to the weight of your cat or dog. Weigh your pet if you are unsure of its weight range, or contact your veterinarian for guidance. Each tube within the package is a single dose that will protect your pet for one month.
Spot-on Frontline Application
Wear latex gloves to protect your skin when applying Frontline, and do not smoke or keep food near the product. Use your fingers to spread the fur apart between your pet's shoulder blades, and apply the liquid content of the tube to its bare skin. The product will gradually spread through the natural oils on its body and will fully protect your pet within 24 hours.
Avoid contact with the wet spot between the animal's shoulder blades, and instruct children not to pet the animal until the spot dries. Wash your hands after application and after any accidental contact with the wet area of fur. Wait at least 24 hours before bathing your pet.
Frontline Spray Application
Apply Frontline spray to your gloved hands and gently wipe the product on your pet's head, face and neck, but avoid contact with its eyes. Spray the product over the rest of your pet's body while tousling its fur with your gloved hand. Do not smoke near the pet after application, and thoroughly wash your hands after any contact with the pet or product.
Contact your veterinarian if your pet has any illness or irritation after use of Frontline.
