Ayurveda medicine originated in India and is traditional nature-based medicine. There are many techniques used to manipulate the nervous system. Most Ayurvedic practices induce a sense of calm and peace that promotes the body's natural ability to heal itself.
Instructions
1. Find someone who has experienced panchakarma, or any other Ayurvedic treatments and seek referrals to trained instructors. Many schools have access to locating alumni nearest your location.
2. Have your dosha, or your body's constitution, determined by a Jyotish practitioner. Ayurveda does not control the nervous system as much as it addresses digestive health, and reminds the body of its natural state of balance. The nervous system depends on the body's ability to maintain deep and continued relaxation. Balancing the doshas naturally produces states of euphoria. It supports the mind's ability to control the nervous system's responses to outside stimuli.
3. Study with an Ayurvedic practitioner. Many offer free demonstrations, workshops through a school. These practitioners will make suggestions on whether to change some habits or eliminate certain foods. They will account for time of day and the season of the year when advising the kind of diet to best suit your constitution (dosha).
4. Practice meditations, breathwork, and guided imagery. Each of these are all simple skills any one can practice and acquire. Working with a professional to relax the nervous system and become familiar with the Ayurvedic diet requires prolonged study.
