Oral Uses

Sweet oil is used as skin protection form ultraviolet (UV) damage. As an antidote for sunburn pain, sweet oil has been used for at least 200 years, according to the Bliss Plan website. Sweet oil is used to penetrate the skin and help speed up healing.
Furniture Polish
As a furniture polish, the sweet oil to use is usually sold in the cosmetics or pharmacy section of the supermarket or drugstore. The oil is odorless and colorless. To use, mix three parts of sweet oil to one part vinegar. The sweet oil furniture polish should only be used on finished surfaces and not unfinished wood.
Manufacturing
Sweet oil is also used in the manufacturing process to make a variety of products. Because of its emollient properties, sweet oil is used to make soaps. Additional uses for sweet oil in the manufacturing process include a setting retardant for dental cements and to manufacture liniments and plasters.
