Low Blood Sugar Symptoms Without Diabetes

Blood sugar levels can be altered by eating too much or too little sugar and carbohydrates. Low blood sugar is one of the common effects seen with diabetics because the pancreas does not release insulin properly. However, people without the condition can suffer symptoms of low blood sugar as well.

Hypoglycemia

When carbohydrates are eaten, they are converted to glucose by the body and either used for energy or stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles. If a high amount of carbohydrates or sugar is eaten in one sitting, this can cause a sharp spike in blood sugars and then a fast plummet in blood sugar.

Brain Function

One of the most common symptoms of low blood sugar is poor brain function. You can have a hard time concentrating.

Sleepiness

When blood sugar is low, energy goes with it. This can cause a feeling of fatigue.

Temper

Another symptom of low blood sugar is irritability. You can become agitated easily and lose your patience with simple things.

Hunger

When your blood sugar spikes and then comes back down and gets low, you can become hungry. This happens when you eat a meal that has a lot of carbs such as pizza.

Other Symptoms

A few other symptoms that can possibly be seen with low blood sugar are paleness, sweating and shaking.
