Treat Ant Infestations

Ants can be quite a nuisance in the home. From the pain of a bite to the annoyance of seeing a stream of them marching into your pantry and into the box of your favorite cereal, it's important to stop them. Several methods are available to deal with an infestation and eliminate an entire colony of ants. Some methods only kill the ants that you find, while others kill the queen and any other ants in the nest.

Instructions

1. Spray insecticides on the ants as you find them.

This approach will get the ants out of your sight for the time being. This will not eliminate the problem entirely, since the queen is not affected and she will still be able to reproduce, .

2. Find the nest and treat it with insecticide.

This may involve drilling small holes in your walls and filling them with insecticide dust that will attack the colony.

3. Spread ant baits in areas frequented by the ants.

As the ants come in contact with the bait, they will track poison back to the nest and kill the rest of the ants, including the queen.
