Talk To Your Doctor Racing Thoughts

Racing thoughts exist solely in your mind and are difficult to define. On the physical side racing thoughts can hamper you in many ways, forcing you to live in the world with terrible thoughts. It can be constant. It is a problem with an answer, usually involving a doctor.

Instructions

1. Be honest about what you are experiencing. For one, no one can help you without knowing the problem. There are solutions for racing thoughts. Sometimes a medication can help. Other times making sense of why it’s occurring can be the answer. What matters is speaking up. Now you need to take action.

2. Look to the depths of your self and life when looking for the cause. Something is on my mind. What is troubling you? Who can you talk to about it? Your doctor isn’t a therapist; a therapist isn’t always the answer. It will take some kind of movement on your part to find a solution. This is rarely a “Take a pill and go back to the real world” scenario. Pills are just part of it. You need guidance.

3. Develop a plan. You’re taking pills, slowing down the thoughts—these all help in some way. But think of this like a dreaded school essay, where you have a short amount of time to develop a solution. One example is how you manage time from day to day. Manage time as much as possible, especially early on, because free time is where you will get caught the most. Ask your doctor for help with this. A person with a mental disorder is in bad company alone. In other words, reach out to your doctor first, friends next.

4. Notice improvement. At some point, it will be important to discuss with your doctor getting off the medication. When you show enough improvement, she will be more than willing to do this. If you are seeing little improvement, ask your doctor about other solutions.

5. Avoid embarrassment and social stigmas about your condition. Lastly, there is nothing like being labeled crazy. You aren’t. What you are is someone taking actions against an oncoming illness. Just by doing that you are showing sanity. Racing thoughts come about for various reasons, whether it’s related to schizophrenia or some other illness. You might have been born with this condition. There is no shame in saying you need help, that you don’t feel well. A doctor’s job is to deal with these concerns. She will provide you answers.
