Store about 2-3 gallons per person, or even more, if there are pregnant mothers, young babies in the family. Use containers that have been bleached (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) before filling with distilled water. remember to change the stored water every 5 months or so.

Keep nonperishable food like canned foods or pre-dried products, peanut butter, dried fruits and vegetables, dried milk powder or pasteurized milk. remember to pack a can opener with the food supplies. Pack foods that will not require a lot of preparation, cooking, or need water. Keep the food supply in cool, dry place. Replace all food supplies every 5-6 months. Don't keep or replace any canned foods that have dents, or have become rusty.
