Boot camps for troubled teens are tough and are run by ex-military drill sergeants. The teen will have almost no contact with anyone outside of camp, and she will be expected to behave as if she were in the actual military. Boot camps are not for every teen and parents have consider a variety of factors before making a decision.
Free Boot Camps
Free boot camps are operated by the state and are only for teens who have been convicted of a crime. They are an alternative to incarceration.
Private Boot Camps
Private boot camps are for teens who are not in trouble with the law, but whose behavior is disruptive at home and at school. The decision to send a teen to a private boot camp is up to the parents.
Brat Boot Camps
Brat boot camps are for teens who are just starting to show signs of developing problems, but are not yet at the disruptive stage.
Features
Teen boot camps are run just like military boot camps with daily military exercises, physical training and learning to deal with reality and show respect.
Time Frame
Brat camps last for just a few months while the regular boot camps can take from a year to a year and a half to complete.
