Although there is always risks involved with medications, many antidepressant medications bear minimal risks and are considered safer than others.
Bupropin
According to the Mayo Clinic, Bupropion, also known as Wellbutrin, has not been found to have any risks during pregnancy. Wellbutrin can be considered a viable option during pregnancy.
Celexa
Although sometimes associated with a rare lung disease in newborns, persistent pulmonary hypertension, or PPHN, the Mayo Clinic suggests that Celexa is an option during pregnancy. The risk for PPHN is extremely low.
Prozac
Prozac may also be considered during pregnancy, according to the Mayo Clinic. Prozac has also been associated with PPHN during the third trimester, but the risk is nominal.
Pamelor
Pamelor is considered a safe option during pregnancy, according to the Mayo Clinic. Although some studies have connect limb malformation with Pamelor use, the studies are inconclusive and outdated.
Zoloft
Zoloft is another option during pregnancy, according to the Mayo Clinic. Studies suggest Zoloft may cause PPHN when taken during the third trimester, but the risks are minimal.
