Premenopause Symptoms & Treatment

Long before a woman actually goes through menopause, she may have menopausal symptoms. Premenopause can be as uncomfortable to some women as menopause. There are ways, however, to deal with the sleep disturbances and discomfort.

Misconceptions

Although a woman doesn't usually go through menopause until her 50s, premenopause can start decades before. It is not uncommon for a woman in her 30s to begin to feel the physical effects of hormone changes.

Symptoms

Premenopause symptoms include sleep disturbances, unusual sweating, mood swings and anxiety. Often a woman will feel similar to when she was going through puberty.

Hormone Replacement

Hormone replacement therapy has proved helpful to women in premenopause. Its benefits and risks should be weighed carefully.

Homeopathy

Some homeopathic remedies have proved useful for premenopausal symptoms. Belladonna, Sulphur and Chamomilla are a few that have worked for multiple problems, but they should be tried one at a time.

Considerations

Consult your doctor at the first sign of premenopausal symptoms to be sure there are no other medical conditions to be considered. A physician should also be made aware of all medications--homeopathic, prescription or over the counter--that you are taking.
