Arthritis pain can be very difficult to live with, and pain management becomes a part of any patient's daily life. 1. Not all root vegetables are the same. White potatoes and regular orange carrots, for instance, do not have the same pain-easing properties that other root vegetables hold. Don't assume all root vegetables are alike.


2. Sweet potatoes are a root vegetable that are considered a "super food" for their nutrient-dense quality. Choose to eat sweet potatoes 3 or 4 times a week to help with arthritis pain. Smaller sweet potatoes are easier to clean and manage; leave skins on for more nutrition.


3. Parsnips taste great roasted or boiled and mixed into mashed sweet potatoes. Parsnips, like sweet potatoes, are another root vegetable that helps with arthritis pain. Choose medium-sized parsnips for better quality.


4. Turnips can be eaten raw, and larger turnips (with a slight purple hue on the outside) make an excellent addition to any raw vegetable tray. The antioxidant properties in turnips add to easing arthritis pain.








5. Rutabagas, like sweet potatoes, are considered a "super food." Clean and then slice rutabagas into boiling water; cook until they're easy to mash. Add some turmeric, which has anti-inflammatory properties.
