Is Olive Oil Good For Hair Regrowth

Olive oil can affect some of the issues involved with hair regrowth.

Olive oil has been used for a great variety of purposes for thousands of years. Some people use it for cooking. Some use it for facials and shaving cream. And others use it on their hair as a desperate attempt to regrow it. Although olive oil benefits your hair in many ways, it does not regrow it. However, olive oil can affect some of the issues associated with hair regrowth without directly causing the hair to grow.

Benefits of Olive Oil

While olive oil does not regrow your hair, when it is combined with other hair care maintenance routines, it certainly provides benefits that aid in the perception of hair health. Using olive oil on your hair improves the elasticity of your hair. As a result, you will see less hair breakage, which can be perceived as hair growth. The use of olive oil hair treatments will condition and nourish your hair, causing it to glisten and shine. It also reduces frizz and hair static, which can also cause hair breakage.

Best Olive Oil

When using olive oil for your hair, make sure it is extra virgin oil. If the olive oil is not extra virgin, it means that it has undergone some form of chemical processing, which takes away from the quality of the oil.

Conditioning Your Hair

Mix 3/4 cup of olive oil with one beaten egg. Apply the mixture to you wet hair after it has been shampooed. Cover your hair with a plastic shower cap. Allow the hair to remain covered for 30 to 45 minutes. For deeper conditioning, you can sit under a hair dryer during the time that the oil and plastic cap is on your hair. Once the time has lapsed, rinse and shampoo the oil out of your hair and blow dry. You can perform this routine weekly or monthly. This olive oil mixture will not regrow your hair, but it is a great conditioner and can enhance volume.

Stopping the Frizz

In order to prevent hair frizziness, take a quarter size drop of olive oil and rub it together in your hands. Use your hands to apply the olive oil to your hair. In order for this method to work, make sure that your hair is completely dry before applying the olive oil. You can also use this method in the winter months to stop the static hair syndrome.

Storing Olive Oil

You can keep the olive oil stored in the original bottle that it came in if you like. However, if you would like the display to be easier on the eyes, you can empty the contents into your own personalized bottle. Bottles that contain pointed squirt nozzles are great for storing your olive oil because they make it easier to apply the olive oil to your hair. There is no pouring. All you have to do is point and squirt. A bottle of olive oil has a general shelf life of two to three years. To achieve maximum benefits be sure that you are not using an oil that has met it's expiration date.
