DUI offenders are required to attend safety classes in North Carolina.
DUI offenders are required by North Carolina law to attend alcohol safety school and/or substance abuse treatment. These schools operate throughout North Carolina and are called Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School (ADETS). ADETS is a 16-hour program that costs $160 (as of April 2010). ADETS schools follow a curriculum called PRIME for Life for the Alcohol
Yadkin Valley Extended Services
Located in Ashe County, Yadkin Valley Extended Services offers ADETS classes that follow the PRIME for Life for the Alcohol Drug Education Training School curriculum. Yadkin Valley Extended Services also offers educational services to Spanish speakers. These services include assessments, short-term and long-term outpatient programs.

1st Step Substance Abuse & DWI Services offers ADETS from its facility in Raleigh. Its classes follow the PRIME for Life for the Alcohol Drug Education Training School program. 1st Step Substance Abuse & DWI Services can accommodate assessments, short- and long-term outpatient programs, and substance abuse-intensive outpatient education. It also offers these services to Spanish speakers.
