Get Blood Sugar Down







Maintaining a normal blood-sugar level is very important to a person's health. High blood sugar can injure the heart, kidneys and eyes and lead to other serious problems.People with Type 2 diabetes cannot maintain normal sugar levels and may have high blood sugar. If you are in this group, there are some things you can do to bring your blood sugar down.


Instructions


1. Exercise regularly. Get in the habit of going to the gym several times a week or regularly doing some type of cardiovascular exercise. Stay active. Take the stairs instead of riding the elevator. Park farther from the store and do more walking. At home, exercise while watching television, do some cleaning or ride an exercise bike. Outside of the house, play with your children or take your dog out for a walk. Work in the garden or rake leaves.


2. Eat a healthy diet. Avoid foods that are high in carbohydrates. Eliminate potato chips and bread made with white flour. Instead, choose whole-grain breads and cereals. Include vegetables and fruits with meals and eat them as snacks. Eat foods that are high in protein.








3. Have some cinnamon, which has been shown to reduce blood sugar. You can take cinnamon in a form of an herb or capsule. You can also sprinkle cinnamon on a healthy food, such as yogurt. (Eating a huge cinnamon roll, however, will probably not reduce your blood sugar.)


4. Soft drinks and other carbonated drinks should be eliminated from your diet. These types of drinks can be successful in raising your blood sugar.


5. Stressful situations can raise your blood sugar. Practice activities that will relax you. Perform breathing exercises. Take a long, relaxing walk or drink some chamomile tea. Take a nice, hot bath.
